MentorsMoremi links MILEAD Fellows and young African women with accomplished women leaders and professionals with the rich experience necessary for inspiring the younger generation. We recruit mentors from all sectors and fields of endeavor. For example, we are developing a data base of experts consisting of women in leadership positions who agree to mentor fellows.
We have three categories of mentors:
- Individual mentors: Each MILEAD fellow identifies and is attached to mentor in her community who provides ongoing mentoring and support.
- Virtual mentors: An online database (and future community) of some of Africa’s most accomplished women leaders who are profiled and signed-up on the Moremi website through a secure interface, mentees are signed up and linked to the mentors.
- “Womentors”: Mentors who participate in or host our “womentoring” events. “Womentoring” is an informal mentoring program that allows young African women and girls to spend from half-day to a full weekend with the most influential woman in their lives.
Mentors must be accomplished women leaders, activists or professionals with high integrity and willingness to mentor and support younger women leaders.
